Edinburgh Fringe 2015

PG Fringe Flyer 2015
Edinburgh Fringe is here again and I’m very excited to bring a rare chance to see me with a full band.
One night only, this is a 90min set featuring some very special guest musicians.
To save me thrusting a flyer into your face on the Royal Mile, Edinburgh, here it is in digital form!
Tickets from Fringe Box Office, or probably a few left on the door!
Right – better get practicing…

A Songwriter’s Circle

I’m currently on tour with acclaimed singer-songwriter Adam Holmes and very chuffed to be opening up as one of the support acts (along with fellow Adam Holmes & the Embers band mate Colin Train).

Tonight we return to the lovely Drouthy Cobbler, Elgin.

I’m also proud to be participating in a couple of A Songwriter’s Circle events. Conceived by singer-songwriter Douglas Kay and inspired by the BBC Songwriter’s Circle Series these involve a group of us performing our songs, discussing the writing process them and possibly a wee bit of collaboration.

The first of these is at The Steeple, Newburgh featuring Douglas Kay, Alan R Davison, John Sloan and myself.

On August 9th we’re together again with another pal, the supremely talented Kirsten Adamson at House Concerts Moffat.

More gigs on the gigs page including a return to the Edinburgh Fringe with my band and a few very special guests.

Tickets on sale at the Fringe Box Office from June 4th but if you’re on my mailing list you may get a wee special deal…

Five Star Review!

I’m very humbled to receive this lovely review of my Edinburgh Fringe band gig by top review site Broadway Baby!

Paul Gilbody

Since my laptopis the extent of my “marketing machine”, exposure like this is a massive boost – huge thanks to Jenni Ajderian for taking the time to come and review.

“With a tight band behind him and an arsenal of fantastic songs, Gilbody will be returning to the Jazz Bar on the 24th, and I urge you to join him there”

Hope to see some of you on Sunday after you’ve had your roast chicken – 2:30pm at The Jazz Bar.

Meanwhile, here’s a youtube link to 80’s pop sensation Five Star performing their ground-breaking “System Addict”…

Peebles Arts Festival

First of all a massive thanks to all who came to my Edinburgh Fringe festival shows – sadly I didn’t get any audio or video recordings which was a shame as I was very proud of the band and my special guests Tracey & Mat.

We did, however get a FIVE STAR REVIEWso big thanks to Broadway Baby‘s Stuart McKenzie for taking the time to come and write about us!

Kudos to my underpaid musicians: Andy Farquhar, John Need, Jules Philip, Tracey Braithwaite and Mat Clements.

Peebles Arts Festival logoTomorrow (Sat 24th August) I’m delighted to have been asked to play a special Fondoo event at The Peebles Arts Festival!

It’s FREE and sharing the bill are 3 stunning musicians I know well:

Kat Healy, Alan R Davison and Georgia Gordon.

Beer may also be involved…

Special guest percussionist – Mr. Mat Clements

Last chance to hear my full band show at the Edinburgh Fringe tomorrow night, this time featuring special guest – percussionist extraordinaire Mat Clements (of Orkestra del Sol fame).

Mat ClementsMat & I have worked together as part of seminal funk outfit The Ugly Groove Movement and more recently on my own music. Above is a pic of Mat playing Hang on an early recording of Quicksand which may yet surface…

Hope you’re all having a good August!

Edinburgh Fringe 2012

August in Edinburgh means the Edinburgh Fringe where the population doubles and the streets are filled with performers, tourists and ubiquitous human statues hoping the rain stays off their grease-paint.

It also means being bombarded with flyers as frequently as if you were walking through Djemaa el-Fna in Marrakech being offered the opportunity to have your photo taken with a reluctant macaque monkey.

That said, here’s my flyer! For the first time I’m bringing my music to the Fringe where I’m doing 3 one-hour shows with my 4-piece band.

Expect to hear songs from the forthcoming debut album which is nearing completion. I’m very excited about the album which will be available on pre-release exclusively during the November UK tour when I’m again supporting Alex Cornish.

Tickets for the Fringe band shows are available on the door at The Jazz Bar or pre-book at the Fringe Box Office(apart from Friday 24th where tickets are ONLY available on the door).

Sunday 12th August 8:30pm
Sunday 19th August 8:30pm
Friday 24th August 8:30pm (Tickets on door ONLY)

I’m also doing a solo show on Saturday 11th August at (Edinburgh’s best kept secret) the Douglas Robertson house concert headlined by Dean Owens‘ stunning Deer Lake project.

Edinburgh Fringe Gigs

It’s that time of year again when you can’t walk two paces along the road without being given yet another flyer and having someone beg you to come to their Fringe show.

Before the Fringe officially kicks off on the 5th though, I thought I’d take this opportunity to beg you to come to my Fringe shows! On the positive side, they’re all FREE.

Yep, I’m proud to be taking part in this year’s Edinburgh Fringe Free Festival which aims to “put the alternative back in the Fringe” in the face of ever increasing Fringe show prices.

I’ll also be doing some shows in the Underbelly Coo Cafe – dates/times to be announced soon so check my gigs page (or subscribe to the gigs RSS feed if your down with Web 2.0).

My first Fringe gig is this Thursday at the Pear Tree – 6:30pm so pop in after work to slake your thirst.

Also, I’ll be doing some special collaboration on some of these gigs and revealing some new songs!

If you really can’t wait then here’s a wee promo video which you can find on the Free Festival Facebook Page.

My Fringe Gigs

Thu 5th August 6:30pm – The Pear Tree

Mon 9th August (midnight) – The Underbelly Cow Cafe (cowgate)

Sun 15th August 5pm – The Pear Tree

Thu 19th August 6pm – The Three Sisters

Now, although my gigs are free, one bunch of Fringe shows you shouldn’t hesitate to pay for are the Acoustic Edinburgh Festival shows every Tuesday in Medina. At only 7/6 for three hours of the highest quality original acoustic music you’re likely to hear, I really believe this is the best value music event on the Edinburgh Fringe. Get your tickets at the box office! Full listings on

Wow – handsome bloke on that flyer…

Since I’m on a roll plugging Fringe shows, I’m also out and about with my double-bass and playing for these fine singer-songwriters:

Alex Cornish – August 18th – The Corn Exchange (supporting Amy MacDonald)

Andi Neate – August 19th and August 20th – The Jazz Bar

Alex Cornish – August 24th – Acoustic Edinburgh Festival

Have a great festival!
